Heat Level: Trippy?!?

Scenario: Valentine’s Day, 5 giant teddys… or 5 beasts?

Valentine’s Day

“Am I high, or are you seeing what I’m seeing?” I nudge Charlotte, and she moves over from her dresser to the mirror across the wardrobe, looking at the reflection of her bed, with one of the giant teddy bears we got her for Valentines day.

“What?” Charlotte gives me a concerned look, “What am I looking for?”

“I swear that teddy was moving,” I narrow my eyes, “Fuck, I swear it moved, Charlie.”

“Did you take something?” she gives me a funny look.

“Fuck, I swear it winked at me and started to fucking move,” I can’t stop staring at it, waiting for it to move again.

“Here, I’ll prove it’s just a big teddy bear,” Charlotte smacks my arm and turns and runs to the bed, diving into the giant teddy’s arms.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” I nearly fall on my ass when the teddy starts to grow in the reflection, morphing, sprouting muscles, claws and fangs. I-it’s a fucking Beast! And it has my girl!

“What the fuck?” Charlotte squirms in the furry arms of the Beast with yellow eyes and horns growing out of it’s ears, “FELIX! HELP ME! It’s alive and going to eat me!” 

I spin around, ready to fight for her life, and all I see is Charlotte holding the teddy’s arms around her waist as she grins at me, fake squirming.

I blink at reality, then turn back to the mirror, but there’s no Beast, just a teddy.

“I think I’m sleep deprived, Charlie,” I run my hand over my eyes, closing my eyes and shaking off the funny feeling.

“Come here and lie down,” Charlotte rolls to the side and pats the bed, “Come on, you shouldn’t stay up so late every night…”

“Nah, I think I’ll pass lying next to that demonic bear,” I laugh awkwardly, “It fucking morphed into something else.”

“Impossible,” she stands up and points to the other four Bears along the wall. One from each of us.

Of course, we all bought her a giant teddy and didn’t coordinate the effort, trying to outdo one another, the same way we messed up her birthday, “Are they moving too? They’re harmless, Felix, chill out,” she dives into the others now, lying back across them and then grinning up at me as I avoid looking at the mirror again, too scared by what I’ll see, “They’re just big teddy bears! I didn’t know anything could scare you…”

“Only hallucinating crazy shit I can’t explain, Trouble,” I awkwardly laugh, and I watch her sit up and reach for her bedside table, taking her phone to check a fresh notification.

“Finally,” Charlotte whispers, “I’ve been waiting forever for this.”

“What for?” I ask, sliding down the mirror and leaning back against it so I don’t have to look at the reflections right now. 

“A book I’ve been wanting to read,” Charlotte licks her lips, “With five Alpha mates.”

“Five? Let me guess, they’re all Beastly?” I ask.

“No, three wolves, two dragons.”

“What’s it called?” I take out a joint, wondering if I should light up. I stare at it, unsure, my fingers trembling as I consider my options.

“Seduced by Seven,” Charlie smirks at the corner of my eye. I focus on her, rather than the joint.

“Tell me about it.”

“Nah, you wouldn’t like it,” she looks way too smug, but I’m staring hard at the teddies, waiting for the rest to morph.

“Yeah, probably not,” I laugh as I rest my head in my hands, “I might be going crazy, Charlie, no lie.”

“Go to sleep then,” she grumbles, “I need to read before Dimitri decides to take his turn.”

“Oh the woes of you, Trouble,” I hug one knee to my chest and give her a look.

“Oh, the woes of me,” she teases me as she reads, scrolling with her thumb while chewing on her lip.

Heh. She’s got 5 Alphas to read about and she gets 5 of us in real life.

Lucky girl.
